An evening plane ride and tired eyes in the back of a taxi. We had made it to Kota Kinabalu.
My roommate and I have a troubling problem of traveling to places and having no idea what the country or city entrails… maybe not troubling, but exciting in a sense.
I could go on and on about how quickly I had fallen in love with KK. Whether it was the number of friendly people we encountered or the yummy fresh food and smoothies we consumed. We left with a sense of sadness as we headed back to the city of HK. No longer taking 15-minute boat rides to islands or stumbling along private beaches and Komodo Dragons while exploring.
I almost described the last photo as me on my way back home. But I wasn’t going back to America. Being in Hong Kong for 8 weeks has made it begin to feel a little like home.
But what makes a home, a home? Is it a sense of security given to you from the city or finally knowing your favorite spots to get late night sushi and cheap drinks?
Thankfully, however, I was able to find a home in this busy city.
Next destination… Taiwan.
Please comment any recs for Taipei!
